I was assigned to have my practice teaching in SMP Muhammadiyah 2.
School Profile
SMP Muhammadiyah 2 is a Junior High School located in Jl. Kapas II No.7A, Semaki, Kec. Umbulharjo, Kota Yogyakarta, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta 55166, Indonesia.

Academic Support System
SMP Muhammadiyah 2 has students from Grades 7 to 9.
Teaching System
In SMP Muhammadiyah 2 classes are held from Monday to Friday. Classes start at 7:15 in the morning and end at 3:00 in the afternoon. There is a lunch break at 12:00 noon and classes resume at 1:00 in the afternoon. On Monday mornings, there is a flag ceremony before classes officially start.
Materials and Other Learning Sources
As for the learning materials, SMP Muhammadiyah 2 has good resources. They have a science lab for science classes to perform their experiments and a computer lab for their computer classes. The campus grounds are not so big though, so students play basketball, soccer, badminton, and have their Physical Education classes on the same grounds. I also observed that each classroom has its own LCD projector and screen so it is very convenient for the teachers who will be bringing and using their laptops for the teaching-learning process. Books are also used by the teachers and students, and sometimes the teacher would get material from the internet, like pictures and videos as additional information for learning. Most teachers now rarely use the traditional visual aids in teaching. Instead, they use technology. Teachers use PowerPoint presentations and audio-visual material in the teaching process.
Measurement and Evaluation System
As for the assessments, teachers prepare written activities like quizzes and summative tests. The teachers also give group activities as another way of assessing and evaluating student learning.
The school also has student exchange programs and activities outside the country. This helps students with their English skills and trains them to be more globally aware and competent. The school gives good opportunities to their students and promotes that learning does not only happen in the classroom.
