Hi everyone! My name is Leana Mae Carreon. I am currently a 4th year student taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English from the University of San Carlos, Cebu, Philippines.

I am one of the students who was blessed with the opportunity of joining the Southeast Asian Student Teacher Exchange Program. I belong to the eighth (8th) batch of SEA Teacher. I was given the chance to have my practice teaching in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. My receiving university was Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, and the school where I was assigned to have my practice teaching was SMP Muhammadiyah 2.

As someone who loves kids, I enjoyed my time there. It was a lot of fun and I learned so many new things. I learned a lot about how to teach effectively and how to handle and relate to my students. I learned a lot of values there as well. I learned how to be patient, which is an important value as an educator. It is definitely not an easy task. I also learned how to be more understanding and open minded especially to new ideas. I have to admit it was not easy at first. I was stepping out of my comfort zone and I had so many fears in mind. But as time passed by, I adjusted and enjoyed the experience. I told myself to be strong and I know that this will help me grow, not just as a student, but as a future teacher.

In my time there, I learned more about Indonesia. I learned about their culture and traditions. I met different people, and I made new friends. This experience opened my mind to new culture and ideas.

My SEA-Teacher experience is something I will never forget. I tried new things and I learned more about myself. This is an experience I will truly treasure.
